Overlooked from our Scarlet Tearoom, many of the birds of ‘Pink Paradise’ share a similar look – they’re pink! The aviary is home to our group of tropical Caribbean flamingo, comical roseate spoonbills and bright scarlet ibis amongst many other rare and exotic birds.

You can step right into this colourful world, and walk through, to see all these birds up-close and personal and taking in the pink-flowering plants and flowing waterfalls as you go!

Even enjoy your picnic under cover of our special canopied viewing platform as you look out over the flamingos sandy beach area and watch out for free flying birds!

Did you know?

  • Caribbean flamingos are the brightest coloured of all of the types of flamingo.
  • The colour of flamingos comes from natural chemicals in their diet. At the zoo we have to provide these to keep our flamingos pink!
  • Even flamingo eggs are in on it – they have a pink-tinged yolk!
