Stay at “Hillside” the home of the late Diana Holloway, founder of Blackbrook Zoo. Hillside was open to the public for many years as “Hillside Bird Oasis” but closed several years ago, and now opens its gates for charity at various timed thoughout the Summer

ExteriorThis substantial 17th-century family house, set within its own gardens and just outside the village of Mobberley, for the ultimate bird lover Hillside is a perfect holiday retreat. The south of the house looks over a beautiful large pool, with over 70 lesser flamingos. Every room of the house looks over a different aspect of the garden where many rare birds can be spotted.The landscaped gardens, many waterfalls and features and lush vegetation make this a scene of stunning natural beauty, a feast for the eyes and a kaleidescope of colour.The warm feel of the house with its timbered ceilings, rich reds and brick fireplaces creates an atmosphere of serene elegance in which to relax and enjoy convivial meal times in the dining room or from the BBQ on the terrace overlooking the ornamental ponds.

Alternatively guests can take a good book into the sun lounge and lose themselves among the tranquil surroundings of the flora and fauna. For days out there is plenty to experience in the local area including complimentary admission to Blackbrook Zoological Park, home of the largest bird collection in the UK, Tatton Hall and Park with a 1,000-acre deer park and two lakes offering walking, cycling, riding, angling and sailing. Visit the local historic town of Knutsford with its many shops, pubs and cafes, or visit the jazz or food and drink festivals in Nantwich or venture into the stunning landscape, wonderful scenery and many attractions of the Peak District National Park.

A little further afield the beautiful town of Chester can be found, close to the border with North Wales. Only 35 miles away is the famous Alton Towers theme park or take in a show on a day trip to Blackpool (62 miles). The vibrant city centre of Manchester is only 15 miles distant and the Trafford Centre only 16 miles. For train journeys, Wilmslow station is only 10 minutes away, from where London can be reached in 1hr 45 minutes.
